Ok looking into getting a visa for Australia and the best backpacker travel insurance there is. Does anyone have any suggestions for the cheapest option for this.
USIT do a deal, Visa, Insurance, VIP Backpacker Card and Bank Account set up for 450 euro, but people are telling me this is a rip off. I can't seem to find just Visa and Insurance for all that much cheaper getting them seperatley.
Good insurance is pretty important to me, especially since i'm bringing my laptop with me, so i do want to be careful about which insurance i go for!
    Any help would be appreciated!

the credit union does a real cheap insurance. You can get a backpacker card over there along with setting up a bank account for free. Either way you will still have to spend an hour or so in the bank so it makes no sense to pay for that service. You can also get the visa online at cost price. 450 euro is nearly $850aud which is a hell of alot of carlton cold and spagball when your backpacking!

I agree. They make money because applying for a visa is supposed to be scary but its a piece of p*** to do yourself online.
www.travelsupermarket.com is a good search engine for travel insurance but read the policies carefully.

Wow very clever, i tried that, but all options were in and around 150 euro, they wouldnt give me a price for Irish citizens on the immi.gov.au website, so wasnt sure which price to go by, the closes was for the UK which is 120 sterling
People are telling me i can get one for as cheap as 50 euro, but nobody can tell me where, i just keep being told to google it, which i have done and i cant find anything near that price.

well 150 is better than 450. You might want to get your skates on too, there are rumors floating around that the aussies are limmiting the number of whv's available. dont know how true it is just rumours

Price for an Irish citizen? Its the same for all ~A$195. Convert that in to euros (what ever it is on the day. €110 today). No discount for being Oirish. Who told you about one for €50 ?

Not being smart one bit but that page has ALL the details, sure the third link under 'on this page' was 'How much will the visa cost?'

Its $195 if your bothered looking

I'm not sure where i saw it, but somewhere on the page it brought me to a link with a list of different places you could apply from, and it gave me the price of 120 sterling for the UK. I may have clicked a link to an external site or something as this time i brought me into the page that showed as $195 which is grand.

I'm just getting confused, as im being told a lot of different things from different people but nobody could give me straight links to get these cheap prices.

I've heard of some companies like USIT and VisaFirst who say you get 'free' visas when you purchasse their travel insurance but the cost is hidden in that hugely inflatedprice. Can't get cheaper than immi site without a catch.
I got ripped off by visa first setting up my bank account. Everything went ok but the rate they exchange your euro to A$ for was a joke...don't use them
