just realised there a few mins ago that there's water down the side of my boot..

    bootx.jpg

like down in there.. and all the way underneath to the otherside. maybe 3 inches deep.

it wasn't there 2 weeks ago, i only bought the car 2 weeks ago and checked the boot thoroughly.. it didn't look like it had been wet before either.

what could this be caused by? bmw e30 by the way.

    thanks

I'd start by having a look at the rubber seal that surrounds the boot opening. Other potential points for water ingress are the rear light clusters and the aerial in the rear wing if you have one. If it's not obvious, empty out the water and wedge kitchen paper in/under places where you think the leak might be, see which one is wet after rain.

Tail light gaskets are a possibility on an E30.

Just hope there aren't any holes in the floor. Those "pockets" which form the backs of the arches are known for tinworm, as are the arches themselves. Bear in mind most of these came from the UK, and the youngest are nearly 20 years old at this stage.
