There is no such thing as "free money" with gambling sites .Wait till you read what ever terms and conditions are involved. It is just a marketing trick to grab peoples attention and money.

*This normally involves having to play/SPEND ! on a very high amount of hands before you are allowed to make a withdrawal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,128 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

still free money and a good way to start with out risking your own money. Also some of these answers are crazy in the quiz

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,760 ✭✭✭sxt

Have you got your free money yet? Usually you do not get your "free money" until you have made a desposit and played a large amount of hands....

Or maybe you have recieved the "free money" but you cannot access the funds until you have played a very large amount of hands....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,128 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

yea I have got free cash with vc for nothing and party poker send me emails saying they have credited cash to my account(usually 10$) it will take awhile to withdraw tho so you will have to play alot of hands.Just try and get a rake back deal and it wont be too bad.

    Don't fall for it mate

By the time you have played the amount of raked hands necessary to get your "free money" the poker company will have made their money from the raked hands that you have played ,you will have to play/spend alot of money before you would ever see this "free money"

Basically poker companies will have promotions like these everyday and they will make a killing with every one! Thats how they make money

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,128 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

Well from what it says on the site it transfers the money to your account ,you dont have to depoisit then you have 60 days i think to get the rest.So they give you 50$ then you have to gets 166 ftps for another 25$

Did you even check the site out. Also I am not arguing with you about how ling it will take to get the other free money but its worth a shot taking a quiz for free 50$

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,760 ✭✭✭sxt

I don't have to check the site out ,i know how the system works .They put your "free money" into your "pending account which is worthless to you unless you have played/spent alot of money . If you have played the required hands they will release parts of the funds ,then you will have to play/spend the same if you want the rest, and so on so forth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,128 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

Well I see I cant change your mind.Anyway Ill let every else know how it goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,760 ✭✭✭sxt

I honestly wish you the best and hope that you get "free money" and bags more! BUT ALL I WILL SAY is that For evey 1 dollar of "free money" a poker company gives away they make a profit of 50 dollars!

Just set a limit to the amount that you are willing to lose in the process, thats all that i am advising.

Rubbish. I gave away a few grand in promo monies for a site I was working on with one single condition - you couldn't just withdraw the money there and then. No staged release or anything like that.

I got a free €20 from one of the gambling sites a few months ago, played blackjack and doubled it, didn't stop and reduced it to €20 and then withdrew the cash so what you say may not always apply. I think it was the Victor Chandler site and the main or only condition was that you "turned over" the original amount before you could withdraw it. I'm sure that other sites have their own terms & conditions, some more restrictive than others, but I'd be more inclined to encourage people to investigate first than to completely dismiss the offer out of hand.

you obviousley have no clue what you are talking about, at least read the link before criticising. Yes its a free 50$ only catch is you cant withdraw it straight away, you can play spin it up to 100 and cashout 50 while leaving the initial 50$ until a certain period is up, anything over that 50$ is fair game to cashout, for anyone with any intrest in poker its a grat oppotunity to get a free start, beware though you can only get one free 50$ anythin else will result in the companys fraud department investigating you...

It also seems you only get your free 'capital' once you've scanned your passport or similar ID and sent it to these guys....that's a step too far for me.

If the likes of pokerstars of partypoker wanted it I wouldn't consider it that big of a deal big business and all that, but we're talking about a random poker forum site here.

Forget the context for a minute here a website is offering you $150 and all you have to do is give them your name, address, e-mail address, phone numbers and a photocopy of your passport.

It's dodgy enough before the passport bit.

You can blank out all the "dodgy" bits of your passport you wouldn't want them to see. Just need the basic details that you provide to pretty much any site you sign up to these days and then your photo. Some people might not mind the effort and get their free $50, others wont be bothered. No big deal.

Lads I'm not campaigning against this by any stretch, but just have to keep responding to these things. They say you can black out the sensitive data but you can't. take the example of passport:

    My passport has the following:
    Name
    Passport Number
    Nationality
    DOB
    Sex
    Place of birth
    Date of Issue
    Date of Expiry
    Signature
    Photo

The things they've specifically asked for are in bold. The issuing authority must be visible, so nationality is a not sensitive, Sex is obvious, Place of birth is irrelevant, as are issue/expiry. So you can cover your signature if you like the rest is not 'sensitive'. They're asking you for all the 'sensitive' info. They also require you to sent a utility bill because the address is not shown on this document.

This is an internet forum - just like boards.ie that happens to publish articles as well. The only difference being that in order to sign up they want all of the above, and are offering $150 in return.

I actually think this is probably a genuine offer, but it's giving way too much data to a company that you've no idea how they manage their data security and besides which it has all the hall marks of a scam.

Offering you something for nothing (check)
Requiring loads of personal data (check)
Requires far more personal data than they need to administer the gift (check)
Requires the provision of personal documents (check)
Masks all of the above with 'fraud prevention' (check)

its standard security procedure, one of the reasons is to stop people abusing it like making up 100s of names and getting 50-150 everytime, you have to remember these are multi billion dollar companies(the big ones anyway) and there security departments are some of the most hi tech in the world, id have no qualms about sending this stuff in at all, ive already done it along with millions of others who play online poker. Also i dont think its pokerstrategy that require this stuff its the site themselves be it fulltilt or pokerstars(the only 2 id personally recommend), id have a fair bit of knowledge on this if anyone has any questions or queries.

SXT hasnt a breeze what he's talking about, I've recieved $50 dollars free from a few different sites... any profit you make is yours to do with as you wish... the non withdrawal $50 is just to prevent someone registering and cashing out... and as was said above yo can block all details except necessary ones on your passport!

Last comment on this one for me..... it's pokerstrategy.com that's asking you for these details not the poker site. You can sign up to any of the poker sites on their list without providing any copies of personal documents.

PokerStrategy.com is not a multi-million dollar company it is a forum (with a few articles).

It is fair to say they don't want duplication etc, but you've no idea who these people are, they are not a poker company. You've no idea what data security they have in place even if they are genuine.

i no what pokerstrategy is thanks for the lesson all the same, theres no reason to send docs to pokerstrategy.com thats not how it used to work, it used to be-do the test sign up threw there link and then the company requests docs(not all the time), this was procedure up until last month, this isnt a new thing by the way, these affiliate agreements have been in place for a couple of years at least, i havent heard of any problems before i dont see why there would be problems now

o and for the record pokerstrategy affiliate agreements are worth millions so they actually are a multi million dollar company, if you knew the poker industry you would know that instead of guessing...

    cheers

Nothing Im up 30 bucks so far, just saying it takes awhile to get the capital but worth it.

I signed up with this site last year and had the $50 put on fulltilt.
To this day I haven't put 1 cent onto full tilt and I play almost every day.
I'm not a great player "bad actually" but with the information and videos on this site along with fulltilts academy you can be a break even player in no time.
I play mainly $1 SNG with a rake of $.25
Pokerstragey not only gives you $50 but with the bonus on fulltilt of another $50.
It also gives you rakeback every week.
    It's 27% for fulltilt.
Rakeback is how this site makes its money.
It gets your rakeback when you sign up but it gives you most of it.
I have to say "THERE IS NO CATCH"
If you lose all the money so what?
It just means you didn't follow the Bankroll management section.
They also have a referral program so you can earn more by getting friends to sign up.
    I highly recommend Pokerstrategy.com

    http://www.bankrollmob.com/

I've used these before... got a $50 free on partypoker and built it up to $500...

They need some details like passport etc. you can black out your main details in photoshop... they only look for details so as to prevent multiple accounts being opened!

    Best of luck!

A recruitment agent approached about a job with pokerstrategy in the recent past, it didn't work out, but from what I gathered about them they:

    - Are based in Gibralter and are of significant size and scale.
    - Run poker tutorials from beginner to advanced.
    - Make money from referrals to poker sites - they get paid a %age of the rake.

AFAI can remember you get to be a bronze, silver or gold member of the site - getting access to more tutorials as you progress up the ladder. How do you progress? - by spending time (money) at the tables.

I'd be very confident that you will get what the OP says.
