    Hi There,
This is my first year in Maynooth and going to be around in this coming summer. Is there going to be any fun around - from socities, clubs or just anything ?
Any movie club/sports club/international students' club ? It seems everything is already getting dead !
    Suggestions ... ?
    Cheers,
    dbm

It is dead. If you dont like it, it can become a bit oppressive.

I love it, I'm sick of teaching by May and the quiet summer is beautiful. Pugin reclaimed, nice weather, free library....

I assume you're studying? I tend to pile in as much research as I can between now and May to make the winter a bit more bearable, there is little to do in terms of campus activities. Staff are gone, admin probably gone too...

Best to sit back and enjoy!

You may want to watch out for the kids though, last years crop were particularly hate-worthy

I m a (international) postdoc actually - just been out of a student's life though! It is going to be fun researching for sure. But not throughout 7 days a week for 3-4 months! I mean, for me it would be great to have some kind of gathering of international students (don't know if many international postdocs around), some movie club etc. once-twice a week. Just to freshen up.
Though I can realize the situation of international students (whose home country is not too close and so can't go back easily) who will have to stay here througout summer. I wonder what they would do !!!

Hit the gym. It's empty in the summer. Swimming pool is open normal hours until end of June too.

Cans, loads of cans all the time, everywhere.

+1 on the empty gym and pool.

The Roost is only busy-ish one night a week, that's on Saturdays, dunno about the rest of the place. I'll be around for another summer, fantastic.

unless its changed in the many years that i spent a summer in maynooth, it is bleak.

but on the plus side, the 66 continues regardless of the season and so dublin is always there for your general entertainment.

Maynooth is a ghost town during the summer.

Maynooth is Barcelona during the summer.

Actually most of them are Italians. I had the misfortune to have to deal with them on a daily basis a few years back when I worked in the gym for the summer.
