    Hi guys,

I was wondering if I'm starting a new job soon and was wondering as it is only for around 3 days a week would it be possible to also get dole for the days I don't work.

People have told me this is possible but I'm not really sure. Anyways I want it all to be above board.. I pay my taxes!!

    hi OP,
i did this recently, as long as you only work a max of 3 days (or 4 days if one is a sunday because they count sunday as a day) you can still claim part time dole. you will get a cheque in the mail everyweek and can cash it in the post office. you wont need to sign on every month too.
i work 4 days including a sunday and get 102.30 a week from the dole too. it works out well.
if you are already on the dole then your job seekers claim will be put on hold for around 4 weeks till they process you moving over to part time, it kind of suchs because you wont have any money coming in if you have a week lie on your wages from your new job. but you will get backpaid then.
you will also get yellow dockets that will mark down the days you work and the days you dont every week and they have to be signed and stamped by your employer and must be left off at the dole office every week before wednesday.

hope this is enough info to help you along!

I went down to the dole office and they said yesterday that I would be entitled to Benefit as I have enough PRSI contributions.

The slips are white and Sunday is included. I usually work Sat,Sun,Mon. Would I be entitled to 4 days or 3 days does anyone know.

Sometimes I would work a Fri instead of Sun would I get different Job Seekers payments for the different weeks so?

Sorry would just like to know

Unless they've changed it, sunday work isn't counted.

So on the weeks you work friday instead of sunday, you'd get less benefits because you'd be working an extra day.

Cool thanks. I always thought that Sunday wasn't counted but it's on the form. Also I always thought the slips were yellow but the ones i was given are white?

They gave me 5 slips how do i go about getting more when they run out?

they sometimes use different coloured slips for claims approved/claims pending.

they send you out more slips when you're about to run out. if you're going to run out in a week and they still haven't sent you more, go into the office and request more - but chances are they'll already be on their way in the post.

Here's my situation, I'm just finished college for good, over 23 and living at home. I have a current pt job that's only really 10hrs a week or so (weekends). I have a full time job starting in Oct.

    Can I claim JSB?

You can probably apply for part time JB or JA, LightningBolt. Good luck with it.

    Hi,

Just a quick question - am I right in saying that when you claim for say 2/3 days that the payment is the normal maximum payment divided?

Do they social welfare divide it by 5 or by 6?

for Jobseeker's Benefit, it depends on how many days you were working before. For Jobseeker's Allowance, it's not quite that simple.

Here is how Jobseeker's Allowance is calculated.

I done that and It came as €108. So is that figure now divided by 5 or 6?
I work Monday to Friday but we do appointments on Saturdays. Some weeks it could be a full day, others a half day and the odd saturday we are off.

Anyways, that wouldnt be the full figure i'll get anywaycos i'm under 24 and still living at home.
