Caps lock is not necessary. This isn't Craigslist.

You need whatever your laptop has. Most laptops will have a VGA. Laptops with dedicated graphics tend to have HDMI if theyre relatively new. You should be able to see plainly which port yours has.

Ask around a bit, family, friends etc.. amazing the amount of people ditching CRT monitors with VGA, you will probably bump into someone just keen to get rid.

just get whatever monitor you want, say your pc has vga out 15pin,or you can buy a vga to dvi adapter,3euro.say monitor has dvi in ,i think you could buy a vga to dvi cable, try and get monitor that DOES NOT ,have a shiny ,reflective screen, they are awful, tis like looking at a mirror.google vga interface picture, and dvi interface picture.
i .,d say go 4 19inch widescreen. crts just use vga in.

Over 2000 posts here and still don't know how to post, thats even more annoying than all capitals. Please post properly, start a sentence with a capital and end it with a full stop, the way You learned in first class. Its not that hard.

Many of the flat panel's will come with both vga and dvi connections but its no harm to double check the specs before you get one.

Also as said many people have old ones they would be glad to be rid of, no harm in checking the free stuff section on adverts.ie

@Gamer - Pog does have a point to a certain degree. Your posts can be quite hard to read at times and your message can get lost. It would be great if you could try and make your posts easier to comprehend.

Ah, even if you get the wrong type of monitor its piss to get an adapter. HDMI VGA and DVI are cheap to interchange.

VGA is analog, HDMI and DVI are almost the same and Digital. Using a flat panel especially you might notice some mild flickering-lines and its because of signal interference. I got that effect on a cheap lidl screen I got because presumably the cable built into it was crap (low grade conductor with low grade shielding).

If you don't have HDMI or DVI output OP then try to buy/get a monitor with a detachable cable so if you encounter that problem you can swap it out for a higher grade.

Since you have vga out, it woud be simpler to buy a monitor with vga in,eg my 22inch lcd monitor 12months old has vga in.BUT its easy to buy a vga/dvi adaptor,so get the best monitor that suits your requirements,in terms of screen size,or resolution.THEY still make new lcds with vga in.

Is it worth buying a monitor with only vga nowadays? Vga is the old analogue, dvi is digital and a little more futureproof. As gamer says though, a lot of monitors will come with both, just don't limit yourself by getting one with just vga
