Investing in movies - risky?

A few years ago I invested some money in a film which was shot in Galway. It was all privately funded and featured at least one recognisable name. As an investor, I was provided with a business plan, projections, updates and then a copy of the finished feature.

However, since then, I've not heard a thing. The website is still active, but emails go ignored and phone calls go to an untended answering machine. I've contacted the director directly but he's not answering either.

As far as I can tell, the film has not been released on DVD but has been sold to different territories for TV (you can guess that it's not great).

Is it worth talking to a solicitor? Unfortunately, I don't know any of the other investors to see if they're in the same boat.
