Buying a new laptop

I would avoid dealing with Dabs based on my most recent experience trying to buy an entry level Sony laptop from them. I placed the order in mid March - the expected stock arrival was 3-5 days. I eventually cancelled the order last Friday after receiveing the umpteenth notification that delivery was delayed. You can't phone them - they only reply to emails and generally took 72 hours to respond to one of my mails. Not once did any of their customer service agents actually explain to me why their supplier of the sony laptop kept changing dates. I ended up buying a very nice acer from amazon as they were having a sale - 3 days later it was delivered to my door.

I have bought three laptops from dabs along with countless other items and I've never had a problem. Having said that I always made sure the items were in stock before I ordered. With regards to RAM, sometimes it is cheaper to buy RAM after you've bought the laptop and put it in yourself. Dell are particularly expensive when it comes to RAM for example.
Also, have a look at komplett.ie. They have some good deals sometimes

That laptop you post looks good OP. I wouldn't get hung up on getting 4gigs of RAM though, as vista 32-bit will only notice about 3.5~ish. Just dont be put off by something that has 3Gigs as it's cheaply upgraded.
As for other suggestions you really need to tell us what you use your laptop for, is there gaming involved? Or is it just basic usage?

See if you can dodge a vista license: for the next couple weeks M$ is handing out Win7RC1 licenses like theyre going out of fashion. Get one. Then just buy an OEM of Win7 when it comes out.
