    Yo,
heading down to Cork for the weekend, looking for a nice saturday scenic spin of around 70km or so, ideally a loop rather than out and back, with the possibility of a lunchstop thrown in. I found Blorgs kinsale loop on mapmyride, but looking for other options too.

How does the cobh ferry work, and where/how often does it go from? Is there any decent sort of loops out that way?

    Cheers
    K

Ferry crosses constantly. Occasionall y charge cyclists 1e. Great spin: rochestown to ferry along river. Cross on ferry and go left for midleton. Then aim for roches point. Around 70k. Well worth leaving an hour earlier to devour to ballycotton. Not a loop but great scenery and good roads

Another option is to head to Macroom on the back road via Dripsey and Coachford - you can start on the Carrigrohane straight (where the County Hall is).
The back road takes you out the Lee Valley and through countryside and villages. Practically flat all the way. You can come back the same road or hit the main road at Macroom and come back on the main road to Cork.
    Total distance 65-70km.
