I sent a mail in last week about it..About abuse of recruitment agencies.Fake jobs etc..Got a call this morning saying would I go on to talk about it..(Had told them in the mail I wouldnt but wanted to raise question of it)..They're having trouble getting someone to talk about it..I cant because to be brutally honest I would worry about the agencies response...Currently out of work...Plus I'm away this afternoon..The researcher said I could have a name change..If anyone is interested they could call them or email them now....

Kudos CorkFenian!! I have recently started job hunting due to current employer and redundancies. Thought I had found the perfect job but I knew it was too good to be true.

Sent CV and letter to recruitment agency only to be the told the job was in final round of interviews but they'd keep me on file. 2 days later the job is still on FAS.ie but the end date has now been changed. I thought they were at last round interviews?!! My arse!!!

I know how you feel..Its tough out there...But they make it miles tougher IMHO..Sounds corny but it would really drive you to despair sometimes..
Liveline really caught me unawares this morning.I know liveline has the show to do(with people arguing back and forth)..But when I said I wouldnt go on air.She said they would drop it all together..Bit of a shame...I really dont think the average person in Ireland realises how bad they are..

Once the recruitment agencies aren't breaking the law no one seems to mind. It's only morally wrong I suppose but it doesn't excuse the fact it's out of order. Especially now so many are hunting for jobs that are so few on the ground. Building peoples' hopes up for something that doesn't even exist is, in my opinion, a disgrace. I wonder if Matt Cooper would take on the subject?

Thats what I'm trying to find out...Went to his show site couldnt see an email off hand will try again...Ure right its morally wrong but IMO also obscene what a lot of them do...Along with that. The Irish Computing society, UL,DCU etc all take them at their word..Only 2 weeks ago they said there was 5,000 IT jobs available in Ireland..Last year it was 14,000!!The man on the street tends to believe them...When its total BS!!

It's a pity I didn't see this earlier, I would have spoken and not worried about the agencies. Something really has to be done, what I am not sure. I see that the is an open forum in the Burlington tonight, great idea. I am thinking of organizing one in Cork, have mailed the OP for ideas on how to go about it. Do you think Corkionions will be interested?
