For me its so that I can get on with the actual driving.

We cant use mobile phones while driving, but we are allowed to lean down and furiously pump a handcrank to lower a window?

Why do we need power steering? Central Locking? Radios? Air Con?

Because most of us cant be arsed to do things manually and like comfort/convenience

Electric windows are great until your car ends up in some canal or off some pier jetty. Anyone who has them should also carry a hammer under the seat.

Is this a regular event for you? :D

Have you tried to break a car window with a hammer?

Six weeks ago, I got a combined glass breaker/seat belt cutter (for motorsport) and it was tried on a side window of a '90 Toyota Starlet. It broke the glass breaker and not the window.......
