Hacker Space in Athlone

Based on the previous thread Hacker Spaces - I think that one should be setup in Athlone. The grief of trying to get to Dublin the whole time would leave people alittle worse for ware. Google it as I'm not posting a link. Anyone interested in doing so?

Don't forget to advertise / contact the nearest spaces for members/hints /help/shared events / workshops

start off by having regular meetings to get a bunch of like minded people together , when you have critical mass see if you can find a suitable space to do stuff

Did this ever happen? I just moved to Athlone and would love to get involved in such an endeavour. I have some experiences from Tog and Base48 in the Czech Rep.

If it didnt happen, would there be interest in setting up either a 2600-esque meeting regularly, and/or the setting up of a hackerspace?

The short answer is no it never happened. Im meeting a few people tomorrow evening and if it goes well who knows, we might manage to set one up.
