WinXP Pro service pack problem

    Hi,

Small problem I hope somebody can help with.

I installed Win XP Pro on a virtual machine. It's an old copy and has no service packs included. I downloaded and tried to install SP3 but i get an error message saying I need to have SP1 installed first.
So I downloaded an express version of SP1 and tried to run it but it needs to connect to an MS server to complete the installation. My virtual machine isn't connected to the net. Links to full versions of SP1 that don't need to connect to a server all redirect me to the latest service pack SP3.

Does anybody know a link where I can download this?

    Thanks in advance

For some reason the links to the SP1a network install don't seem to be working, but for your purposes the SP 2 link should do just as well.

    Have you tried installing SP2
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389
To install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), either Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1a) or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) must already be installed.

If you have to install Windows XP Service Pack 1a or Windows XP Service Pack 2, go to the "Windows XP Service Pack 1a" section or the "Windows XP Service Pack 2" section in this article.

    Edit: Dammit too slooow.

Never even crossed my mind to try SP2 :o. I just read the message saying install SP1 first and concentrated on finding a link for it.

    SP2 and 3 now installed.

    Thanks a mill for replies
