Microsoft Word Problem

I am trying to write something on Word but when I try to go to the next line by pressing the ENTER key.

    Example:
I am using MS Word. (I then press ENTER to skip a line)

(The text appears here when I type, not on the line above this)

How I want it to work:
I am using MS Word. (I then press ENTER to skip a line)
(The text should appears here when I type)

Does anyone know how to fix this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sounds like Office 2007.

The quick and dirty way is to do shift+return to do a link break instead of creating a new paragraph as you do by hitting enter/return.

This won't be good if your text is justified.

The better approach is to edit the default style and making sure the line-spacing after a paragraph is 0 pt.

Yes, as ethernet said, it sounds like Word 2007. Mine started doing that infuriating thing a while back and I had to go to Paragraph on the Home tab > Indents and Spacing > Spacing and change Before and After to 0. Also make sure line spacing is at Single and then make it the Default.

if it is word 2007 highlight the two lines of text (the one above and below the unwanted space) and click the no spacing button on the main (home) toolbar.
