Bought PATA CD Drive, machine only has SATA connections. Easy and cheap solution?

So bought an LG CDRW / DVDRW PATA drive for my brother's machine off Amazon.. presumed (I know I shouldn't have) his now broken CD-ROM drive has PATA connections, but realised yesterday when I went to install that it was SATA.

The drive was only €23 off Amazon, and I can send it back for a refund. But I've to cough up the shipping costs for it back and knowing Amazon, they'll won't refund me shipping (which was the bulk of the price to be honest).

So any cheap and any solutions to this problem? Could buy a PCI card with a PATA connection I suppose? Or should I just try and sell it on?

    try swapping on adverts ?

deal extreme do IDE <--> SATA too

set it up as a usb drive internally ( messy but if you have the kit already )

what is the machine out of curiousity ?

Are you sure there's no pata connectors on the motherboard and you don't just need a cable? What computer is it?

You could buy a PATA interface card like http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=354386 but probably isn't worth it when a SATA burner can be had for http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=343952 €22 (i'm not including delievery I know.

I have an adapter that would work for you, you're welcome to it. I'd be going through sligo in the next couple of weeks so i could drop it off, or if you need it before i can post it no bother.

Its this adapter , I'm going to hold onto the Sata cable though.

Don't have the kit for it!

It's one of the Dell Vostros.. think it's 1000 or 1500.

Computer is as above.. I couldn't see any PATA connections on the motherboard but I'll double-check later.

Yeah.. exactly. I've already spent €23 on the burner so looking for a cheap and easy solution (but note cheap) just to avoid me having to send it back.
