Why? Political Correctness gone mad perhaps?

Many pitches have no changing rooms so the kids will be changing on the sidelines or in cars.

Good luck with the photos but you can see why a parent approaches you even though you're just doing your hobby and just there to capture the match action and get some good photos

Some parents might overreact, I hope people are sensible at the match

There are no restrictions. I've shot underage sports before.

As long as you have permission to shoot (for private grounds) or are on public grounds, then there are no further considerations.

In general, in Ireland, parents tend not to over-react about a photographer being there, far from it, they love the fact that little Jimmy might be in the paper or something.

I think that you have every right to take photographs in public unless you are using the camera to harrass someone. You also have to be aware of taking photo's where there may be an expectation of privacy (this would be when the kids are changing etc.)

While you have the right, it can be prudent to be sensitive to the situation. Because of all the stuff in the media you can understand why a parent may be concerned. I would suggest that you be as obvious as possible.

I'm off to shoot a girls (11yrs, I think) camogie match later. I intend running it by the team managers as a courtesy first, then snapping away, as my neice is playing. I'll let you know how I get on later, if you like....

Got on grand, the coach had no problems at all.

The light was good and suited the 70-300 well, got some decent shots

I will go again, with a bit of luck the club will look for a couple of shots!
