Usually I'd prefer more of a groove metal sound but lately I can't get enough of early Lamb of God / Burn The Priest. Can anyone point me in the direction of similar bands?

    A few samples :)

I'm not a fan of Burn the Priest tbh, my favourite Lamb of God album is Killadelphia, you should really pick that up.

I think you will find Killadelphia is not a studio album.

    OP,maybe try Gojira.

    REALLY !?!?!?!

The OP mentioned he was into Groove Metal already, so I assume he is aware of Gojira.

Do Sepultura and DevilDriver count as groove metal?

Yeah I'd count them in there. Not old Sepultura though.

You might want to give Obituary a listen to, they can be very groovy.

Although Gojira are a great band they're not quite what I'm looking for. From listening to From Mars to Sirius I found their stuff to be lacking in ferocity, more subdued.

Weird you posted that clip, I've been listening to Frozen In Time all afternoon.

I've been listening to a lot of Exhorder again recently, really good groove/thrash metal.

Just listened to a few songs on youtube, they're pretty good thanks.

No worries. If you're looking at getting their albums, 'Law' is the more groove metal album while 'Slaughter in the Vatican' is more of a thrash album with hints of groove. Can't go wrong with either of them though, both are really good.

Thats weird was only looking at this last night.

I had never heard of Groove Metal until I was pondering the other day what genre Machine Head fall into.

Didnt go through a lot of the list but I thought Byzantine,2Ton Predator & A life Once Lost sounded good.

Biomechanical are considered a Progressive/Groove Metal band! They're pretty good!
