    Hi All

I have setup my Sky as seen in the picture attached.

The LED light is on in the Remote Link but will not change channels.

    Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Looking at your diagram you have it connected rite but have you got it connected using wallsockets??? If so I would advise you bypass them as often they will not allow power to work fully through them ...check the back of them if there is a green circuit board then a magic eye will not work using them. If there metal they should work so long as a good solid connection is done.

if there is any break or join in the cable going to the new tv the link will not work i tried everything including going down on my knees and praying but could not get it to work because the cable was extended you will have to run 1 unbroken length of cable between the boxs sorry i just looked at your drawing there its the coax connecter thats causing the problem if you leave them out and hard wire the cable. it might work

A magic eye will work no problem if the cable is joined correctly. An F connector and barrel joiner should be used at all times when extending coax cables not coax connectors..

    thanks for the replies

the coax connectors in the diagram are f connectors and a joint,
its a new house, electrician wired the cable but split it in the attic for some reason, and then its wired to a wall socket.
ill try running a cable directly and see how she goes,
    ill let you know

    electrician wired the cable

In the majority of cases this is where the problem lies.

Here here Tony fully agree with you there. I wish all electricians would stop Looping sockets from one to the other and use proper trunking so a point can be easily added to later. I hate having to drill a wall especially in a brand new house when all they have to do is make a phonecall and ask what they need to do beforehand instead of ignoring or taking the short way out of doing it rite.

I wish they would advise home owners that they do not take responsibilty for making the system work, if they guaranteed that all cabling was up to standard then they might be motivated to do it right or seek advice from a specialist. I doubt whether a home owner would ask a satellite installer to install their fuseboard so I've never understood why the satellite/tv/av guy is always called when its too late to do it 100% right and ends up being a compromised install.
