Finally got around to watching this last night and i enjoyed it, damn the critics and other boardsies slating it and keeping me away from seeing it in the cinema. :(

Anybody else think this was a good movie? Or am i on my own on this one ?

The sfx were spectacular in most parts and the story unique and creative, sure there were a few weak scenes but most if not all comic to movie films have horrendous scenes. Daredevil anybody? New wolverine film? :P

Lesson learned, i really need to stick to my "ill make my own rating" attitude

    I liked it.
Not as good as the first, but worth watching.

I loved it. I'm a big Del Toro fan and count Perman as one of my 27 percentile. Plus Goss kicked ass, he really is an underrated actor who seems to make an awful lot of crap. As I type A Hellboy 2 poster hangs on the wall in front of me. My biggest fear is that with Del Toro's current directing gigs he may not get a chance to make Hellboy 3 till as far away as 2017.

I thoroughly enjoyed Hellboy II, thought it was considerably better than the first one.

    Great fun, and visually excellent.
    Forget about the critics.

Liz was cheating on Hellboy, the baby isn't his, no way they were doing it sure she had no interest in him at all, the best he got in the whole flic was a peck on the forehead like you would give to a child.

I liked it. Enjoyed it much more than the first one.
    It got mainly positive reviews.

I liked it a lot. Thought the pacing was a bit weird in places, though that mainly comes down to it having been not really an action film, but still having action at its centre.

Also, thought the Armagh gnome thing was brilliant.

Can't really type coherently atm, sorry.

Also, I'll counter your 'most if not all' with Dark Knight and A History of Violence, for starters.

Not for me to be honest. I actually found it boring.

Thought it was excellent myself. Better than the first one and miles better than your average comic book film. It had a lot of great lines.

I thought that it was very good. Really enjoyed it and visually is was excellent. The comedy element was just right and really suited the film imo, loved Johann Krauss.

Another positive vote for Hellboy II. I haven't seen the first, but really enjoyed the film and liked some of the unusual ideas in it, especially the troll city, that's a whole other film in itself!

I didn't think it was as good as the first Hellboy. I thought Hellboy II was a bit too much like 'The Mummy' in tone for me. There was 'more for the kids' in this one than the first one. That said, I did enjoy it but just not as much as the first.

100 times better than the first imo. I let the first one slide though as it suffered the same problem as most introductory Hero movies, in that they have to introduce the character yet also have a fleshed out villian story. It rarely works. Recently they nearly hit the nail on the head with Ironman, mainly because they completely cut out a main villian story and reduced it to merely a villian fight at the end.

That being said, Hellboy II isn't even close to being one of my favourite hero movies.

I liked it. Again, I'm also a big Perlman fan and Del Toro is a genius in my book.

I Didn't like it as much as the first. The script wasn't as strong and they gave Abe too much screentime which I don't think the makeup ( or the character ) stood up too. I love the lovecraftian stuff from the first movie too and missed it here. For me Golden army just felt a little shallower overall.

(That said the Angel of death bit was pretty neat.)

Loved it. Better than the first (which I also was a big fan of) in my opinion. Lets hope Del Toro finds the time on his busy slate to make a third!

Though it was weak compaired to the first movie which was fantastic imho. Being a Hellboy fan from before the movies I was disapointed with the lack of Hellboy in the 2nd and agree with the above poster about the pacing being messed up in far to many places.

I enjoyed hellboy2. Both of them surprised me when i saw them. I got the first one to watch on the plane coming home from the states and loved it best $5bucks i've spent in an airport!

Didn't go to the cinema to see hellboy2 because of the slating it recieved here! But once again enjoyed it on DVD.
Big fan of del toros movies.

Hellboy 1 and 2 felt like 2 different movies. The first had a good contrast between the real world and Hellboy's world, the second was Del Toro taking the Pan's Labyrinth praise far too much to heart and using creatue effects way beyond what was necessary imo and vanishing the real world into irrelevance. Fraggle Rock featuring Hellboy.

Bloody masterpiece ! I watched it in DVD few weeks ago, and I was very impressed. Good sequels are rare, and this one belongs to the A list of best sequels ever. The imagination of Del Toro is endless, it is funny, well acted, décor are fantastic, so the sfx, the make up, etc... I was not disappointed.

Way better than the first one. The sfx were amazing.
