Employment hours

Employer has employees working a 45 hour week, out of which the employer stops 5 hours per week for morning break and lunch (half hour each) with overtime rate of 1.5 times above 45 hours.

    Is this correct and acceptable?

Further, employer now wants employees to take a €2/hour pay cut with overtime to be paid at normal rate.

Is this correct and acceptable please?

The not paying lunch hour thing is normal enough. The deducting €2 an hour means you get paid about €4000 less a year.

It seems ok. There is no legal requirement for your employer to provide a 'tea break' and if availed of, they are not required to pay you for it. In saying that, most employers do.

Very few employers pay people during their lunch break.

And what's the general consensus on eliminating the overtime rate of 1.5?

If ye are unionised the company may have to enter into consultation with ye and agree compensation for this loss of benifit.

If like the rest of us you are not the will just tell you time are rough like or or lump it!
