He should but he wont, never ever ever gonna happen, he's moved on, everyone else should too, I wouldnt rule out some appearances like at the HOF last year but thats it

Their is a better chance of Chris Benoit and Eddie coming back to the WWE. He does not need to as he is making tons of money churning out movies without the stress that been a professional wrestler these days. I would like him back, but I also would like to get married to Beyonce, but I have accepted that neither are realistic possibilities a long time ago, time to move on. ;)

i know thats what i was thinking but its very dissapointing because he was a really cool guy and so much fun to watch on the tv.

he has moved on the fans should move on etc aint gonna happen but...

Finally!.. The Rock.. has come back.. to.. professional wrestling! (can you imagine the crowd pop, it would be deafening)

He seems to still hold something against Vince since his contract expired without them offering him a new one. He's moved on, he doesn't need wrestling and all that goes with it. He shouldn't come back if he's got a good head on his shoulders

This, why put his body through it if he doesn't need to.

That said, I would like to see him come back for one night only and beat Undertaker at WM however >_>

I'd love to see him back but its not gonna happen!

    Should he? No
    Will he? No

Why as already said he has moved onto a ig that he obvioulsy feels is better for him.

There is nothing left for him to achieve in wrestling. He could never reach those heights again.

Nah, never cared much for the guy anyway.

    WWE dont need him.

They have the new rock in Cena. Cena will be talked about in 10 years the same as the rock is been now.

    Should he come back?
    Yeah, at some point.

Perhaps this could be the case.

Maybe the rock has seen how many times Hogan made a "return", and how after a few times it became stale and boring.
You would be watching thinking "Ah great, here he is again in his 40 year old red and yellow boots, and his out dated leg drop.....yay?"

So he possibly he doesnt want to come back yet.

Its been said already, the pop he would get would be huge. Possibly bigger than Austin at Mania.

I would love to see him back at some stage.
More than likely it will be in a few years, maybe even longer than that, but when vince makes him a golden offer im sure he might take it.

    Perfect scenario:
They are un-knowingly setting up the biggest grudge match in my mind with the whole "Rock sold out, i wont sell out" by Cena.

Imagine when Cena makes a few more movies and he is promoting it and is talking about how the rock left to go make movies etc etc, and then the rock makes more comments about how wrestling was something he "used" to do.
Until one day Dwayne cant take anymore and calls out and says in some random interview that he is still the biggest name in sports entertainment, much bigger than any other present day star.

Which would send the internet marks (us included) into a frenzy, speculating and hoping it would lead somewhere.

Think of the whold jericho/rourke thing, but more drip fed.

Then Rock and Cena gets parts in the same film, and then they have a few known 'moments'.

Rumors come out saying that there was heated moments, with rock and cena nearly at blows with each other.

Which all accumulates with Cena calling rock out with something like "You know what, im glad your not around anymore, because i woudnt like to bust your bubble and have to show you up to all your "millions" of fans"

Which has Rock demanding a spot to show what hes made of, that he can still go at it, and that he will prove that he is still the great one.

Bulid up with the match at mania.

Oh only if it could really happen. :)

But they want him. That's why they send Cena out to try and reel him in every time he does an interview. Rock could probably land himself the biggest, best, easiest contract in wrestling history with the McMahon's if he wanted it.

    However...

He should never step foot ina WWE ring/arena again.

Can you imagine th pressure from everyone (wrestlers and fans alike) that would be expecting him to be this amazing, fantastic, funny wrestler?

He'd never, ever be able to live up to the heights that people build up in their heads and people would be disappointed with him because of it.

Rock did the right thing. He got into wrestling, he accomplished his goals, became a huge star, made his money, and got the hell out whlist he still was young, good looking, athletic and fit to break into another industry (which he has done).

Austin, Foley, Hogan.. They've all stayed around too long and worn themselves out with the fans. They're the same tired routine over and over and fans become dulled by it. If Rock came back he'd only damage himself. He has it great as it is. There is no need for him to ever return.

But that would be part of the beauty of it.

He would have to be billed as a heel for a WM showdown, for all the smarks too. ;)

Think about it, every WM has some sort of celebrity involvement on some level every year, Sometimes they are huge like Mayweather or trump, and them sometimes they are just someone like Mickey Rourke.

But if the Rock gains enough momentum, enough plausibility as a proper an A list movie action hero star, then why not get him as the celeb for that year and hit two birds with one stone.

Everyone has done it at some point and the rock will be added to that list.

Its only a matter of time.

It will be when Rock is at such a height of status that he is untouchable, and in reflection when Cena is the single biggest wrestling representative the world has seen, bigger than Hogan, bigger than Austin.

I love to see The Rock back for one WM match.

BTW when he is going to be inducted into the HOF? next year?

The Rock V John Cena would be a dream match of mine

I think the fact he has changed his name from The Rock in movies kinda means he is done with the wrestling side of things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,602 ✭✭✭✭ShawnRaven

    No, no and no.
He wasn't that great in the ring, funny as hell on the mic. But mic work isn't gonna cut it with the current product, and Rock can barely do kiddies movies, so he doesn't stand a chance if he came back for kiddy wrestling.

    Yup, definite no!

    Why not?

Cena has the WWEs backing, he will be the poster boy used by the WWE without question for the future, he will be shoved down the throat of everyone who looks at anything WWE, and people will start to be sucked in.

Thats why they are putting him into so many movies, they want him to do a hoagn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,602 ✭✭✭✭ShawnRaven

Cena is nowhere near as big as Austin. Not yet anyway.
I do see where you're coming from, and Cena looks to be headed in that general direction, but in terms of talent, charisma and overall performance. Cena is a long way off at this point.

That and the fact that Austin v McMahon played a big part in saving the WWE from going under, and Cena has yet to be (nor is he ever to be) placed in that position.

    Cena isnt that amazing either.
But that hasnt stopped him either.

And even more so my reason for having him as a celeb involvement.
He wouldnt have to wrestle. Just be involved.

There's no chance he'll ever be as well known in a mainstream sense or be as beloved by the average wrestling fan as Hogan, or indeed as big a draw or as historically important as Austin. Cena's the star now but he'll never come anywhere near those guys, not a hope.

Cena isn't even in the same league as Rock though. There is no comparison.
Cena caters for the kiddies, Rock was an all rounder. I didn't like Rock personally, he was a one trick pony for me, but i don't speak for the general public.

How old is the average Cena fan right now?

I have 3 nephews the age of 8, 9, and 10, i also have a brother who is nearly 12 and they all (more so the younger ones) are ultimate kiddie-WWE fans, Cena, Rey, Batista, Jeff, the lot.

So if they stay fans for the next 5+ years then Cena WILL become the Rock.
Loved by the kids who grew up with him, just like some of us did with the rock, or even further a field by the people who grew up with Hogan.

hate to say it but when i was teaching 3rd fourth and 5th class primary school and was rewarding them for getting all their work done by letting them play hangman or 20 questions where usually the topic was famous people...Cena was always one of the first 5 names mentioned. We might not be considerd on Hogan, Flair etc level by our generation but the new fans see him as their equivalent.

Chances are they won't still be fans though. Most kids grow out of wrestling when they get older, theres only a tiny few of us stick with it.

I see what you're saying and theres no doubt Cenas a big big star. Its just he'll ever get to that massive level of fame that Hogan and Austin command. They were guys that left an indelible print on the very fabric and history of Pro-Wrestling. Cenas the top guy, but he hasn't done that and I don't think he ever will.

Well when Taker, HBK and Batista and maybe even Jeff and Hunter leaving the business in a few years time, Cena will have to carry the company seeing as they are not exaclty churning out superstars at the moment. ;)

The Rock/Dwayne Johnson is box office gold in films even kiddie films

He just hosted the Nickelodeon's 22nd annual Kids' Choice Awards

The Rock >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> John Cena - and this is coming from The Official John Cena Nuthugger of the Pro Wrestling forum :D

No, gullable parents will take their kids to see any tripe in the cinema, doesn't matter who's in the movie. His name sells, not his acting.

Whoop de doo! That's about as prestigious as the BRIT awards are to music. :P

Not exactly a lifetime achievement in fairness. ;)

The guy is incredibly bright firstly and there will never not be a place in wrestling for people with his athletic and speaking ability combined with a charisma that very few in wrestling have possessed. He would get over in any era.

On topic, it's not about "should" The Rock come back. Nobody should feel like they're chained to wrestling forever if they have other ambitions.

Where did I say he wasn't?

Athletic ability? Not like we ever saw that from him during his run. Some of the dumbest, unconvincing moves came from him. Sorry, never bought into it.

Now THIS, I do agree with. :)

I never said you didn't. I referred to it as I was counterbalancing your initial post which in my opinion was a very unbalanced assessment of the Rock.

This is such a ridiculous statement it's not even funny (and I like Cena)

Edit: To elaborate. One of the reasons that Cena will never ever reach Hogan, Austin or the Rocks level is wrestling isn't as popular as it ever was with those three. He's the star of a brand that has very little star power. The Rock may have been the second biggest star of the attitude era (maybe even third or fourth behind Goldberg and Sting) and Cena may be the biggest star now but they're not comperable. The Prince of England may not have the top position in his country but he has a hell of a lot more power than the king of San marino (if say San Marino was a monarchy). It's also worth noting that the Rock had cross appeal to all ages, Cena does not.

As for Rocky coming back, he did say on Soccer AM that he preferred wrestling

    Blasphemy!

Of course they should, they have sold their SOULS to us, and we demand it!

    Mwahahahaha!!!!

Ah im in a weird mood tonight.

On a serious note, i do agree with your post, the part that i quoted above :p
