Accents on an iPhone

How do I type accents on the iPhone? I see that it's picked up a fada I put on someone's name in Address Book on the Mac, but how do I type them on the iPhone itself?

Some keys when you press them and hold for a couple of seconds you get extra letter, accents, try holding the key ' I think should be there, if not try some of the other keys.
