Myself and 6 friends are heading to Bourg D'Oisans for a few days climbing and some have decided to bring our bikes with us. We are flying to Lyon so had intended getting buses to Bourg but i hear that the bus companies wont allow bikes on the buses. Anyone have any experience at this? Would we be maybe better off hiring a private bus firm since there is 7 of us?

yeah, tried to go grenoble - lyon and on to the south of france by train the grenoble lyon bit was a bus transfer and they wouldn't let us bring the bikes, a 16hour night train journey was our only other option and when it came to the last bit of our journey on a small commuter train they replaced it with a bus transfer and we just put our bikes in the hold........ if you train from lyon to grenoble, its only a 60Km cycle to bourg. mainly up hill but very nice.
