Late Late Show - Anybody else want Pat to stay?

I was never a huge fan of Pat, but considering that Miriam has said this week that the decision will be made "next week" and that the only real candidates are Miriam, Tubridy and G.Ryan, is there anybody else that would be happy if Pat just stayed... ? The reason that most people want to get rid of Pat is cos he is not good at light entertainment. But

    1. Miriam is basically the female version of Pat, and not as good an interviewer.
    2. Tubridy is a pretentious twat, and very hard to listen to. He is better than Pat at light entertainment, but terrible at sports interviews (as he proved with his interview with Gazza) which Pat is okay on.
    3. G.Ryan is G.Ryan, self obsessed. Flopped on every TV show he's had and not clever enough for the political stuff.

So I request your signature for my petition.
    thank you ;-)

    ( I wanted Mark Little :-( )

... or... and bear with me on this... how about we get rid of the Late Late Show altogether, it's been dead since Gay left anyway.

Pat is showing his age a bit now. A coat of ronseal though and he should last another fives years or so.

No he shouldn't stay, I think his new political show will actually be decent because that's what he's good at, politics and current affairs. Frankly he's terrible at any light entertainment subjects.

He's been so much more relaxed since he said he was quitting that one would wonder if the entire show (since he took over) wouldn't have been better if he'd said he was quitting on his first ever night...

I think Pat is awful, absolutely dreadful, but Miriam O'Callaghan would be infinitely worse.

Like you say she is the female Pat Kenny but an even worse interviewer and I cant stand her voice. The show wont last more than two years if she gets the job.

If the Late Late wasn't such a cash cow, it would have been let die by now. Miriam's joke about rotating between the 3 of them might not have been such a bad idea. She could do the serious stuff, Tubridy the fluff, and Ryan could take the celebs out to dinner.

No, I don't the lack of suitable replacements is a reason to keep Pat in the hot seat. As has been said many times by many people, he's good on the radio and good with current affairs. He's terrible at light entertainment. He's not able to sit back and let the guest talk and allow the conversation to drift into interesting places. He just can't stop interrupting them. I'm sure his new show will suit him much better. There was no crime in him having a stab at the Late Late - clinging onto it for dear life for a decade though. Now that's a different matter.

Im dreading if Tubridy gets the Late Late that the smugness will be horrific. It would be Tubridy's dream to interview non-celebrities (eg, normal people-people on to discuss depression, victims of crime etc) since he will be able to show people how much smarter he is than them with obscure references and his word of the day. You know something though Ryan? Other people in your audiences HAVE heard of Macbeth and JFK.

Agreed on Mark Little the best choice around at the moment

Think the Late Late is old and tired and should have ended when Gaybo left. None of the presenters seem likely to be able to change that. It was of its time, innovative, original and challenging with entertainment thrown in too.
But the world has moved on now, I personally wouldn't have the patience to sit through two hours of dodgy interviews, long add breaks and poor music anymore, the internet and dvd box sets have shortened my attention span,
