Rattling noise from the engine

i think! when i start it up there is a rattling noise and also when i change gear and start to accelerate. any ideas!

Give us some more details. What kind of car is it? Engine size and fuel? Last serviced etc, any other symptoms?

A rattle on engine start is common, it stops once the oil starts circulating but I'm not sure on gearchange and acceleration.

its a megane 1.4. only bought it a couple of months ago. no other real symptons. running fine. it mostly happens under load. like when im accelarating at low revs. but it was rattling when i started the engine last couple of mornings.

Hmmm may be best to get it to a mechanic to have a look. Have you a warranty?

nope. im seeing big end bearings been mentioned on other forums! i swear to god! ****in renault. never again

What year is the car? Did you have it properly checked before you bought it?

Yo have no way of knowing how (badly) a car was treated before you got it. You really have to get a mechanic to look it over before buying(this goes for any car).

its a 02 and yes i did get it checked over first

It might just be a hear shield or something rattling around. Just get someone to have a look at it. It's impossible to diagnose something like this on here...

First thing to do is check the oil level....:eek:
Then its down to the process of elimination...as above it could be an exhaust heatsheild..clutch etc...;)
