OP, why don't you ask in one of these forums? You're not gonna get any helpful advice here.

Failing that, buy a dinghy with a hole in it and set sail for Atlantis.

Travel while you can! You will enjoy the experience and if you don't then you can always go home. Have you any friends who are in a similar situation as yourself ie single and unemployed who might want to go with you?

Agree with the others, travel while you can.
Have you also thought about volunteer work in some countries as well?

I know there is many places that could maybe do with your wood experience and building skills. How about passing them on a bit?

    Have a look here: http://www.projects-abroad.ie/volunteering-overseas

    Just a thought...

He seems to have a reasonable grasp of that. Seems to have diplomacy down too fair play to him.

OP. Go for it. Stick a few hundred quid in the bank so you can buy your ticket home and go enjoy yourself.

You can't be looking for a fairytale ending buddy. Travel is great. It's a fantastic thing. It broadens the mind and broadens one's horizons. But don't expect it to answer every question because even travel, even with lots of money saved, travel will never answer all of life's questions. It won't even satisfy you medium term. Particularly if you're travelling to run away from something back home. Things have a way of following you across continents so it's best to face them and enjoy a holiday and not wish you life away hoping for a fairytale ending.

Don't bother with a package holiday. Spread your money out try hostelworld.com. Europe is easy to get around and as a European citizen it's all open to you.

Do go away for the summer and get seasonal work if you can - might as well, there's **** all here. But remember this is only a temporary measure so try to think of a plan B. Not trying to piss on your parade, but things are tough for you now (that sucks - condolences dude) and you don't want to be coming back in September to misery. Or maybe just emigrate? Seeing as you're keen for a fresh start somewhere else anyway... Canada appears to be a place where there's work. I agree with the doc that you can't be using travel to run away from problems/move them to another place where you'll just end up lonely. At the same time though, you're unhappy where you are and it doesn't seem like you've major ties keeping you here... as well as the recession of course. Emigration is the only option for some people now.

listen i hear what your saying but one thing i'm not looking for is a fairytale ending!! is their such a thing? i'm not working, living with the folks who more then likely thought that i wouldn't be back under their roof and on top of it all ireland is on such a downer, EVERYBODY!! when i was younger i went to oz and usa for 3/4 months and that did it for me. but i have lived in scotland for over two years untill the end of last year.

Then you enjoy your holiday, (you sound like you need it) and come home.
Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.
At least you will feel more relaxed.
