    Hi Folks,

I know theres a bargain alerts thread in the consumer issues forum but I thought the motoring forum was deserving of its own :)

I presume the Mods won't want any touting but I thought it would be useful for people to post their experiences for the absolute car nuts for specialist stuff all the way down to the car novice who just wants a cheap service for example.

Mods might sticky this so feel free to add to it :)

I'll kick it off with an advert I saw yesterday in a local paper for BF Goodrich Tyres 205/55/16 at €70 a pop. Very common tyre, decent brand and great value I thought! Available at Blakes Cross Tyre Centre

Hope someone gets some use out of it.

I've often thought of this but not sure if it's a runner with the mods etc.

Summerhill Spares out the Malahide Rd. have to be my top recommendation, top quality used parts at much lower cost. It's a truly recession friendly business. Got an exhaust fitted from them for €130 as against the €269 (before VAT) a main dealer wanted before fitting.

Checked with one of the new Mods and the only way this will work is if the thread gets the traffic, so its over to everybody else now to make it a success:)

    VRT Bargain Alert:
VRT on a BMW 750i (E65) is way less than on other, smaller engines - in some cases a couple of years older.

I'd say it would work, too well though. It would be swamped with car ads from dealers etc posing as private sellers.

Lads, if we're going to start this keep the chatter and the aprovements of the thread to a minimal. Bargains only please!

I need 4 new tyres for my VW Golf, I'm based in Limerick and am looking for a good deal. The last set of bridgestones I got cost about €110 each.

people cant even begin to tell you a deal or if your already getting a good deal without the info required man.

makes no difference what car your putting the tyres onto, you need to post :

    1 - what size tyre you need ie. 225 40 R18 etc
2 - wether you want a named performance brand or cheap brand
3 - wether you need them supplied only or supplied and fitted.

for example, i got 4 tyres last week for a friend, all were Nangkang 215 45 R17and cost €280 without fitting.
