I seem to be having some trouble with my external hard drive. Its WD Elements I bought from Komplett less than a year ago. Basically, I plug it in, blue light comes on for a second, the hard drive begins spinning. It seems to go full speed for about 5 seconds then turns itself off. I have tried it while connected to a computer and same thing. The computer wont even detect it. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, most probably it's died.
Keep in mind that every time you try to plug it there is lesser chance it's content cen be recovered by professionalist if it might be the option you consider.
I hope you have a back up of your stuff.
With HD it's like roulette. It's not a question of if you will have a hard drive crash, it's a question of when. No matter what brand you are using.
