Fairly flat apart from the climb onto Belfield bridge - reasonably fast - bring water if it's warm: http://www.womensminimarathon.ie/_fileupload/downloads/Course%20Map%2021april09.pdf

There is no hills in the city centre to speak of, but it's not going to be a fast course unless you are right at the front when the gun goes off as there will be far too many people in front of you:

I don't think I'd bother taking water in a 10k. Do they not have water stations anyway?

are we allowed ask what you were doing last year, that you don't remeber the course?

there are water stations before donnybrook, and if its as warm as last year, all the runners/walkers should take water on.

There are water stations alright - my memory is that there is one soon after you come down from Belfield bridge...as regards the flat, fast course, it's very true that you won't get a fast start at all with that number of runners...personally, I think that this isn't the race in which to clock up a PB - it's just a great race to do, for the atmosphere, charities, and all round fun...have a brilliant time to all those doing it!:)

i am trying to pb on a 10k i did recently that was on a very flat course , i want to get an idea of the hill in the course which i didnt pay too much attention to last year(cause i was not being time conscious ) as this will have a bearing on my time .
If you hydrate yourself enough before the race you shouldnt really need to take water during the race

Depends what time your getting round in but I wouldn't bother on a 10k, unless it was really hot and I just needed to pour water over the head to cool down a bit. If your going for a fast time though, by the time any water you've taken on has any effect on your hydration levels you'd probably be finished anyway though. So in that case just keep going and worry about water at the end.

If your not going so fast though then you probably would want some water, but the seconds lost won't be quite as much of an issue.

    my thinking exactly
i did take water(well poured it on my head) during the race last year but that was just cause i waited for an hour at the start without water in the scourging sun:( ( in order to get a place near the top)

:p Yep - taking water depends on how long it takes you to get to the water stations - they are at the 8k mark (Airfield) - I've heard there are 1300 registered as runners this year.
