    Hi,

Anyone having problems playing on line in the last 48hr's ?

    This is my setup.
    NTL 10mg
PS3 wired in the Netgear Router .
    PS3 configured for Static I.P
    PS3 configured for wired connection
All ports opened on my router

Working fine for a couple of months .................

In the past 48hrs I am getting disconnected from PSN nearly every game and have to restart my PS3 and modem & router to get back on line , then sure enough 20 mins later same thing

I called NTL and they done a line test on my Broadband and said all is in order , they did say i should bypass my Netgear and wire my PS3 directly into the Modem .I will try this when i get home , I am hoping i have more that one port on the modem so i can have the PS3 and Netgear wired as i use the Netgear for connecting to my Laptop (wireless).

Just interested for any advice you may have or if you are similar problems in the past few days .

    M.

Try downloading and installing a firmware update for your Netgear first, that could fix any issues you might have.

    Thanks J,

I am sure i only updated the firmware on the Netgear last week but will try .

I have been doing some reading since my OP and it seems if i do wire the PS3 directly into the modem then I wont be able to connect my Laptop to the Internet at the same time :o so i will need to get things back to its original working order , who knows Netgear could just need a update !

    Anyone else got any suggestions

Could it be anything to do with the recent firmware you installed then?

Mountjoy Mugger (great name by the way)

I was thinking that .... but it was working fine til like Tues , that would have been a good week post update .

Just really frustrating to have a perfectly working setup go bad , could be my Netgear giving up the ghost , might be time fro a new router ( suggestions on a post card )

I had a similar issue. PS3 would always drop it's internet connection after a few minutes. I'm using UPC but a different router (a linksys WRT54GS).

I did notice that when the PS3 dropped it's connection it was because the router had reset itself. To fix it I picked the option to disable UPnP from the router configuration. Only found this out after enabling and disabling nearly every option on the router.

A whole different router, but perhaps your new firmware has enabled or disabled an option that worked fine for you before - maybe UPnP.
