Haven't heard of these before, just heard "Help I'm alive" and it's brilliant. Just wanted to know know what everyone thinks of them? Any albums they'd recommend? Phantom fm seem to be playing them a lot so that's usually a good sign.

Help I'm alive - Metric for those who haven't heard it.

Their album "Fantasies" which "Help I'm Alive" is from is really excellent, definitely worth getting. Otherwise I have only heard their single "Monster Hospital" from a couple of years back, also a good tune!

Got their first album Old World Underground, Where are you now? a few years ago and thought it was great. Combat Baby is my favourite song off it.

I love that Help I'm Alive song, Poster of a Girl and Combat Baby are good but nothing else has clicked with me, apart from Emily Haines.... mmmmm... Emily:rolleyes:

Love Metric, have been praising them here for ages. Really consistent and capable of some beatiful slow songs and great harder faster ones. Fantasies is great but all the albums are. Personal favourite is probably Grow up and Blow away but I like them all.

BTW, if you like Help I'm Alive you should love the accoustic version on the album i got. My favourite song of the year.

If your looking for some other songs try Police and the Private, Dead Disco, On the Sly and Grow up and Blow away itself

Only got into Metric recently but I think Fantasies is far superior to what they've done before. Help I'm alive is an absolute cracker.

Gonna see them in glasgow on tuesday. In an old church. 500 capacity.
    and smoking is allowed:D

gonna go early and park in front of Emily for the night;)

the site is blocked is work but they had the whole album streaming on it prelaunch.
    Cheers,
    Marky.

I first heard them from a Rough Trade compilation album; 'Dead Disco'. Still my favourite Metric song

I'd heard both versions of Help I'm alive, currently listening to Police and the Private. It pretty awesome too, wasn't able to get the album this week - hopefully HMV will have it!

got into metric after hearing their involvement in broken social scene.. especially Emily Haines vocals on 'anthems for a seventeen year old girl'
(really like that track :) )

the first metric album i got was live it out (there second) which is a fantastic album
    notably for:
empty, too little too late, poster of a girl, monster hospital and the police and the private.

im big fan of fantasies now but still think live it out is up there as worth a listen..

on another note if anyone is interested, been listening to blonde redhead which are kinda similar to metric.. worth a looksie..

I did not know this. It's my favourite BSS track.

I think Live it out is easily the worst of the four bar Monster Hospital and Police and the Private being great. That's more to overall high standards than anything else though

Have to agree with that. While I love Metric, those two songs were the only real stand out tracks for me on that one!

The first album of their that I got was Grow Up and Blow Away, and I still love it now. All of them are great though, and I'm really impressed with Fantasies. If you like Help, I'm Alive then I don't think you can go wrong with any of them really.

Yeah listened to it a few times and was pleasantly surprised.

I dont have the musical nuance to put my opinion into words but suffice to say its f-ing good.
