Tinted Windows

I've noticed a few people looking into my car in the last few weeks and today I had two young lads walk by and take a long look inside. I dunno what to make of this, I never noticed it before.

I have a lot of wires and attachments onto my car. So when you look in, it's kinda obvious there must be at least a satnav inside and mp3 player. In the back seats there are always all sorts of equipment and bags with clothes or more stuff. Right now there is some golf clubs out of their bag (driving range stuff).

Would getting my windows tinted put off people looking in and possibly deter a break in? How much does it cost? Can I remove it? Will I fail the NCT with it?

Also would it look good on a 03 Passat like the one below.

Why do you leave temptation there for them?
Always make sure your belongings are out of sight when you leave your car. Either put then away in your boot or take them with you

As for tints, they could still see in if they wanted to as the windscreen should have no tint.

Would getting my windows tinted put off people looking in and possibly deter a break in? Possibly, although if you have tinted windows it make look like you have something to hide

How much does it cost? Depending wherre you get it done, and for four windows and the back window on a Passat I'd say anywhere between 300-400 euro

Can I remove it? Yes, with a hairdryer and elbow grease you can

Will I fail the NCT with it?There are laws for how dark it can be(a certain amount for the front two, the back three can be done as dark as you like. It may cause concern for the Gardaí if it's too dark. As who ever is doing it for you to keep it within the legal limit on the front two wnidows(which generally isn't that dark.

Also would it look good on a 03 Passat like the one below.Depending on where you live, but I know the kind around these parts that windows tinted on their Passats and alot of them too. They leave much to be desired

Hope the above helps, tbh I'd try and hide the wires more so than going down the route of tinted windows. IMO, it's not worth the hassle it may cause.

Taking all your junk out of the car and hiding the wires is cheaper then tinting the windows.

Currently there are no legal limits on tints but the Gardai can and do get people to remove heavy tints from the front windows. The Gardi don't mind if you have UK spec tints on, but these only block 30% of the light, so to stay legal the front window tints won't hide all the junk you have on display.

Thanks for all the info guys.

There's actually no real belongings in the car kbannon. Just some wires and signs of some equipment that I usually hook up when driving.

I decided to go against it. Costs a lot and I don't think it would look great in the end. I always give blacked out cars an odd look when Im driving anyway :D So I'll just just tidy up the car a bit and get the codes changed on the security gate from the REALLY obvious default code it's on now.
