Just done my NCT this morning and passed all tests except for one visual defect. Its marked down as "Service Brake Operation ABS-Warning light".
Now Im a bit baffled by this as when I start the car, the abs light comes on for a second and then goes off as do the usual other lights on the dash. So can anybody explain how they test for this visually.. i.e. do they test that it comes on when testing the brakes etc?

Had the same problem but with Airbag warning light comes on. Sometimes its fine and stays off other times it comes on at the dash board. Tryed getting it fixed 2 times but both times it did not work.

Is this new? I NCT'd a 1 series BMW 6 weeks or so ago. The ABS/Traction control light was on as the ECU had failed. The car sailed through with no problems at all (much to my surprise).

Would ask them did it come on under heavy braking during the test.

What sort of car is it? does the ABS light follow its correct sequence? there is no heavy braking done during an NCT.

Tis a E39 5 series. Just popped into another NCT centre during lunch and got one of the guys to confirm that all they test for is the correct sequence if it lighting up then going out when starting the car. He told me it should NOT have been failed. Its pretty damn hard not to see the lights coming on and off!! Looks like Ill be back to them first thing Monday morning.

It must surely have stayed on during the test for them to come up with this. I mean they are not that silly are they. Wouldnt the brake rollers trigger this light on alot cars due to the wheel speed difference from axle to axle on the moving rollers?
