So my car battery died and I went to get it changed from a garage. He put a new battery. But afterwards stereo shows enter code ____. I don't know code as dealer never told me one when i bought my car. Now garageman is trying to get code but he is not sure. I don't want to pay main dealer for code. Any suggestions appreciated.

    PM Mondeoman (seriously).
He's a secret agent who frequents boards in his spare time and has an unnatural ability to get Ford radio codes

Do you still have the owner's manual? In my old Focus the stereo code was printed on paper inside the sleave of the owner's manual.

Alternatively contact a Ford dealer with the car's VIN and they will be able to get it for you. They may charge a fee for that service though. Usually around €15 or €20.

I used this before for my brothers focus

    http://www.radio-code.co.uk/ford-radio-codes.html

Worked perfrect, instant, and only £5 (sterling)

You will need to get the serial code from the back of the radio. If you insert 4 pieces of wire or 4 skinny screwdrivers into the holes on the radio it will just pop out.

I'm a VW owner and I had this problem, i went to the dealer where the car originated and they had it kept on a database, they didn't charge me. Doubt the garage would have it only a main dealer.

Theres plenty of programs you can download for free where you just enter your radio serial number and it spits out your unlock code. Dunno how websites and dealers get away with charging £5 odd for a code

Why would you pay for it, when you can get it for free???

Dealer wanted €30 to unlock it. Made it seem like it was a big effort. Told him to head off. I'm sure there out there for free on the internet (I didn't search much). I was happy to pay the £5 to get it sorted straight away with very little effort.

Are you serious? The car doesnt even need to go near the dealership, all they need is the reg and last 5 digits of the chassis number.

Thats madness. Anyone who quotes €30 for 30 seconds of work on a computer really needs to be named and shamed.

I rang them up and explained. I said I can give them the serial number from the back of the radio and any other info. He said they car would have to come in to be connected to the computer to be programmed. I stopped listening after that to be honest...
