laguna2 prob again

    let my laguna2 03 petrol model run low on petrol today and on my way to the petrol station it started to get very chuggy and the whole car started to shudder, i got petrol before it stopped or ran out and its been down on power and the engine looks like its going to fall out of the engine bay wen its idol anybody got a clue wats rong or how i can fix it im at my wits end with this car it has cost me too mutch on repairs i cant afford any more :mad:

    You could have picked up some crap in your tank by running it low, but a rough idle like that suggest not firing on all cylinders, are you with the AA who could diagnose the problem? You should be with a Laguna!

    could be that the crap at the end of the tank is gone into the fuel filter. The filter is now blocked and stopping enough petrol getting into the cylinders

    You can burn out the fuel pump by running out of petrol, some pumps are only lubricated by the petrol and if you run them dry you burn the pump out and i'd imagine this would be something Renault would use just to be that little bit different.:rolleyes: It sure is busy on Renault breakdowns this weather.

    If it is crap in the fuel system it is not the fault of Renault, this can happen on any car.

    Plenty of other makes you can run dry and this doesn't happen.

    Take it for a long drive. If it's air in the fuel system, this will clear it. If it's dirt, probably not. If it's dirt, you might need new injector/pump assembly. That won't be cheap.
