Options - Coaxial (where my dvd is), Optical 1 & 2

    Thanks!

Did the logitech speakers come with a brain type unit?

I'm not 100% what you mean but I don't believe so

Here's basically what I have (minus wireless facility)

The sound card has only 2 outputs, left and right. That speaker system looks like it has about 10, probably only 5 though. Basically you need to use just 2 of the speakers. The surround business is useless except for DVD's etc. Anyway without looking at either unit I'd guess there's 2 inputs in the speaker controller called Front Left and Front Right, (LF, RF) or something similar. That's where the outputs from the sound card go.

I googled on your post and saw that same pic. That's why I asked about a central brain thingie. Maybe it's not just wireless transmitter and is possible the only way of inputting your standard phono (rca) signal? Take a better pic of the back of the speakers (not just the woofer) and repost them.

That thing looks like it has a light pipe input and maybe an s/pdif. I had a look at the specifications on the Logitech site, needless to say they were about as useful as tits on a bull.

They were talking about surround from 2 tracks in. My guess is sp/dif in and a bit of fannying about with the controller. Either way that's two pieces of kit that wouldn't be exactly the most compatible in the world.

Hey has it got mini Jacks for inputs?

I'll post up a pic as soon as ... that was one I robbed from google images.

I think you're right, the devices aren't the most compatible in the world!

I don't think it's possible to use red/white phono cables out from the soundcard, so I suppose that just leaves S/PDIF -> COAX, or S/PDIF -> Optical

Is that even possible? (in process of googling)

Spdif is the protocol - both coax and optical can be used to transmit the Spdif protocol.

I think we have a solution .... not the most elegant though!

Double check that the optical input actually is compatible with sp/dif. It may just be for multi-channel audio (surround). Like I said, there's no real info on the site.
