May need some outdoor suitable brushed stainless steel, think it's known as 304, is 304 good enuf for outdoor use, anyone know any metal fabricators who could do as a nixer

You're on the ball there; grade 304 stainless is the most common type of stainless steel. It's used all the time for handrailing, tanks and external cladding so it is suitable for external use.

I can't help you with the nixer I'm afraid, but I'd recommend going to any local stainless fabrication shop and tell them you want a cash job done ! I'm sure you'll find someone that will oblige.
