Can you give us the exact error you're getting?

Can you run firefox in safemode
It should be in the firefox folder in the start menu. it gives the option at startup to disable addons then. might help?

yea i can run firefox in safe mode (as im doing now)

the error message im getting is that my plug-in has performed an illegal operation and its advised i restart firefox (but i cant start it, i can only run it in safe mode)

I was having that trouble with firefox too, before it started to crash on a daily basis.. So I dumped it and installed Safari instead and I can't imagine myself ever looking back.. Its just better.

Have you tried removing the plugins, also any toolbars installed

some people go crazy for plugins, only use the essential ones and keep away from the eye candy

disable them based start ing with the most recent ones

do another scan for malware on your PC

if IE isn't starting then use internet applet in control panel to empty / delete temp files

next step is to setup a new user account on the pc and see does that have the same propblems in |IE and then use windows update to make sure you are up to date

if using XP you could use system restore to roll back to the last time things worked fine, saves a lot of hassle and time wasting.
