How are you sure about it?I signed up for this at a JC revision course they had in trinity a while back. One of the best maths teachers in Ireland says its reliable. The only thing I like about maths though is that you know whats going to come up, which is everything.

Learn them all - most aren't too bad. There only 2 very long ones 1 moderately long one. The rest are easy enough.

Tbh, your better off understanding them than learning them off.

If you understand why they are equal etc then you will be able to answer it from scratch

Prediction: A formal letter. It usually appears every two years, and it didn't appear last year.

How sure are you about it: As sure as I can be, without having written the paper. Probably about 75%

That's usually what happens. Easy last year so it will be quite difficult this year.

ehhh...note has come up the last two years in a row, it was a surprise even last year. Don't think it will come up three times in a row, that has never happened before.

Teacher says 90% sure of a formal coming up as it hasn't for years.

No idea if we get a choice, Usually you do but I think one year there was no choice.

I must have got a different one then. I'd love it if insurance came up, I had the principles shoved down my throat for months.

As a question 5? I'd say so too, if you go through the papers every other 2nd year topic has been asked more recently than that. I think (well, I hope) there'll be a revolutionary leader essay question as well.

    Business Predictions :
Foreign Trade/Factors of Production/National Budget (100% sure, one form always comes up, either separate or together)
    Insurance (almost positive)

    History:
    Essay - Revolutionary (almost positive)
    Something on Explorations

Does anyone have any predictions for which history sections most likely to come up, on either Q4, Q5 or Q6? (except for International Relations and Social Change)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,068 ✭✭✭LoonyLovegood

History, Reformation's very unlikely to come up. It was section 5 two years ago, and section 4 last year.

I'd be thinking Plantations/Famine for section 5, hasn't been up in 4/5 years

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29 lijh

Plantation came up in the mocks, would that make it more or less likely to come up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,068 ✭✭✭LoonyLovegood

Doesn't make a difference, the papers are made before the mocks.

I'd be suprised if it came up as a question 5 again, because it did like 2 years ago as well as being on the pres. There are different pres though so there has to be some stuff that will come up again...

The reasons for it, all that stuff about incorrect maps and writers like Marco Polo describing places that didn't exist, the new way of building ships (they love that question for some reason), know one Portuguese explorer really well and look over the rest, know Christopher Columbus really well, conquistadors and the effects of the explorations. Phew...

History - 2nd Year Course is going to dominate the 2nd part of the paper.

An Ancient civilisation isnt coming up (Rome & Celtic Ireland)
Historian/Archaeologist isnt coming up (Archaeologist came up in last 1/2 years)

I predict an essay on Industrial Revolution ( Mine/Factory Worker or Famine),
an essay on a Revolutionary (Washington, Robespierre, Tone)
an essay on Medieval Life (Knight, Craftman)
    an essay on Renaissance Painter/Sculptor

    Q5 will be on Plantations
    Q6 will be Explorations/Social Change/International Relations/Ireland in 20th Century

    I'm pretty sure about Q5 and Q6.....

The essays are purely speculation based on what came up last year, what hasn't came up in a while and what hasn't been mentioned on the paper (they're not gonna ask for an Explorer Essay if Explorations is Q6 etc.)

I wouldnt just learn those, as the rest of the course will probably be needed for Q1, 2, and 3. But i definitely am depending on those coming up for Q4, 5, 6
