Clutch slow to engage in Seat Ibiza?

So.. after a few months driving my mother's Ford Puma 1.2 (as a learner / named driver), I took a used Seat Ibiza 1.0 out for a test drive earlier.

But I had a bit of a problem.. in my mother's car, I'm used to lifting my left foot off the clutch and have the pedal more or less follow my foot (it's ideal for me.. as I need feedback to be honest).

But on this Seat Ibiza.. I pushed in the clutch but when I lifted my foot, the pedal didn't follow it - it sorta came of it's own accord.

My father didn't notice it.. and he's been driving over 30 years. Didn't even mention it to the dealer I was buying it off but it this what's referred to as a hard clutch / soft clutch? I wasn't comfortable at all in it.. can this be adjusted or is it specific to the car model?

Probably a bit of a newbie question but it's been playing on my mind since!

Sounds like the pedal box ...common fault in these cars

+1 on the pedal box. They go in all of those cars and are a b***ard to fit.
My advice; If your not comfortable driving a car then dont buy it. Hold out for one thats perfect for you or you'll never enjoy driving it.

Sometimes they squeak as well . Another tell tale sign is the clutch pedal will be lower height than the break pedal

I had no intention to buy it alright.. as I wasn't comfortable with it in the slightest.

Since I'm going from a 1.2 litre to a 1 litre.. I don't expect myself to find myself too comfortable driving something until I get used to the lack of power but was definitely more comfortable in a 1 litre 00 Polo this evening.

Still, gonna give the other Seat Ibiza a shot tomorrow.
