WWE looking to make New stars

I thought this was interesting, but something that should've been done a long time ago.

-According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Stephanie McMahon held a meeting with the wrestlers at the last TV tapings and told them that the company is now looking to make new stars, that nobody will be held back and that they want everyone working as hard as they can to achieve success.

The company also reportedly encouraged wrestlers to come up with ideas for their character and storylines, which is a huge change of pace considering the way things work is that unless you are a top guy, suggestions from midcard talent are generally looked at as being annoying.

Whether or not this will mean big changes for the company creatively in the future remains to be seen as many wrestlers feel the only way to get over your character is through mic time as a majority of the crowd doesn’t seem to focused on the outstanding quality of in-ring work.

Believe it when I see it,if this happens we will see it on ECW and Smackdown not Raw.

RE the last line. WHy are fans not interested in the ring work. Maybe because the guys wrestling were given feck all time to create a persona that fans can understand and get into.

I hoper there is some basis for the report. It certainly looks like they are giving guys on smackdown and ecw a chance. ECW has given us swagger, bourne and kidd in the last few months. Smackdown looks to be a place punk and morrison in particular are going to get a shot at making a real impact in fans eyes.

Agree that raw is unlikely to see much change. When was the last time kofi spoke on raw?

It's not because WWE are actively trying to make new stars, it's because they have to make a new face for Smackdown. No Taker for a while and Hardy might be leaving the company leaving Rey and Punk who are not main eventers

Last I read Jeff will be staying, I assume they offered him a ton of money to stay. It is a bit early to rule out Punk as a main eventer yet, him, Swagger and maybe MVP are probably the best equipped of the midcard to make the jump.

its definately raw where they need to make new stars, its becoming ridiculously boring and theres basically no new main eventers, the miz, mvp and matt hardy are the only people that come to mind, that are over enough to move up from the midcard, but this is definately a good move in the long run by the wwe, allowing wrestlers to invest more in there characters gives us fans more of a chance to connect with them.

None of those guys are near ready to main event. If you think Matt Hardy v MVP to headline a PPV will put asses in the seats, be my guest, i'm guessing it would be an epic fail. It would be a decent match, but it would encourage people to buy it as a main event.

Hardy vs. MVP would be a dreadful main event. Matt Hardy is ****. VP is good. If there making main eventers from VP, Miz, Morrison and others, the only way to go about it is having then fight long time main eventers first. There's no point on having MVP and Matt Hardy's first main event PPV match be against each other. MVP vs. Orton would have been the chance for MVP and still is. If MVP doesn't fight Orton for the title soon, I'll make a prediction that he'll never be a main eventer.

sorry i meant in the long term, but at the same time what would you prefere to see hhh vs orton/cena/batista for the millionth time on ppv or hhh vs hardy/mvp/cm punk/morrison/miz???? i know what id prefere to see

I wanna see the main event of a PPV be Me vs. Triple H (I have a gun and he doesn't), that would be the match f the century

I could comment on how great i thionk punk is but i will praise someone else for a change.

Swagger has a had a great impact since arriving in ecw. Enjoy his wrestling and he never looks out of place when he shares the screen with more experienced guys. I am convinced he is going to be a big star over time.

Evan Bourne is another i would like to see take off.

I just hate him so much, but I'm done now. ;)

The WWE is PG right now so doe the kids want to see M.V.P vs. John Morrison. I'd doubt it. If anyone watched ECW last night, you would have seen Evan Bourne vs. Tyson Kidd. It was very good match, but there may aswell have been no crowd their at all!

I do not care. Pull that again and i'll be pulling the cards for breach of peace. The reason I started that specific thread was because posts like your last one were the cause of wrecking nearly thread on the board!

The last the Observer reported was that WWE are acting as if Jeff's going and that there's been word that it's to take part in some sort of venture, like an MTV reality show, but that's unconfirmed so far. A lot of other wrestlers have been supporting him because they like to see someone just take time off like that without acting like they care about threats to their position on the card
