    Folks,

I am cycling the ring of Kerry race this year, and was thinking of cyling the Wicklow 100 route on the day of this event. I was just wondering could anyone just cycle it without purchasing a number or would the officials stop you from doing it i.e. could I just do the vent without officially registering and without using the drink/food stops etc. I suupose they can't really stop you due to the roads open to the public. Its just I think its a little expensive for what you get (the recession and all):p

Yes, you can do the route without entering, as you said, it is on public roads.

Just be honest and don't avail of the facilities. The 100km rest stop is Rathdrum and there are shops they you can buy stuff at.

The first time doing the Wicklow event I did the 100. I was a little disappointed how easy it was - the 200k is considerably harder.
I don't recall any difficult hills so your lack of fitness levels (as long as you will have done some training) should not be a problem.

There's nothing stopping you heading up Sally with the 200s, then turning left instead of right, over lugalla and down the the 100 route if you like (i.e. what the 200 did last year). Would be more of an in-between challenge.
