Ford Ka Wing Mirrors

I drive a 2002 Ford Ka and have moved to a house where I have to park on the street. I have been trying to push in the wing mirrors so they don't get broken off by passing people/cars. They don't seem to go in though and I am afraid to put too much force in case I end up breaking them off myself! Does anyone know are they supposed to go in? Or is that just not a feature of the Ka? I though every car's wing mirrors went in!

Don't think they do, the MkI Focus was similar, they didn't fold completely either but did flex a bit if they were hit.
