We've always been one of those companies that pull the road tax stunt to avoid DOEing our vans. Now we're changing our tune.

We have half a dozen vans that need DOEing and we've booked each for every Monday morning for the next 6 weeks which we've had confirmed in writing. If the guys are stopped by the guards in the meantime, will the booking confirmation suffice??

Thats up to the Guard that stops the van. How long will the vans be out of tax by the time they get the DOE done?

BTW, its the driver who will be prosecuted for driving a van with no tax, so i'd make sure they are all ok with it too.

They're not out of tax at all. We're more worried about the 5 points for no NCT/ DOE. They're only provisionally booked for one a week. As one gets sorted, the next will be done so they should all be done within a few weeks.

Ah, in that case i wouldnt be too worried, unless the vans are in bits, and look like they're in bits.

If there not out of tax how will the guards know you've no DOE. I don't carry any cert for my DOE. As long as there is tax i'm always just waved on.
