Hey, not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes.

I've recently finished a level 7 degree course in carlow it. ive sent my C.V. around a load of places and e-mailed a few companies but of course no one seems to be hiring at the moment and I dont want to sponge of my parents until I get a job (god knows when that will come) so Im wondering if im eligible for the dole and if I am what do I need to bring with me?

I'm 21, have been in college for the past 3 years and worked in a centra supermarket for 2 years between 16-18 while I was in secondary school.

    Cheers.

Abroad as in where? I've had friends coming back to Ireland from as far as Australia the past few months because they've been let go from their jobs because of this credit crunch crap.

Social welfare payments are means tested- but firstly you need to determine whether you're entitled to a Jobseeker's Benefit payment or a Jobseeker's allowance payment. Jobseeker's Benefit is payable if you have paid enough PRSI contributions. If you haven't, you could claim Jobseeker's allowance- for anyone under 20 it's €100 a week and for anyone over 20 it's €204. However you might receive less depending on your circumstances.

To claim a Jobseeker's payment you need to fill out and return a form UP1, downloadable here- http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Forms/Documents/UP1.pdf

I've just sent mine off today.

    All the best
