hey, I dont go to concerts much.Would someone please be able to tell me if the time stated on ticketmaster is the time the main band comes on stage or if its is the time the gates open? Thanks

Generally its the time gates open. Depending on the size of the gig give another 30min to an hour for the support band to come on, 45min to 1.5hr for their set and 30min to 1hr for the main act (assuming theres only one support act)
