    mitsubishi pajero automatic 1992

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/882331

lookin to buy this for towin a caravan.

i want to convert it to commercial for commercial tax rate €288/year.

i have already gotten an insurance quote of €315 from my ins, co. as a 2nd vehicle which is reasonable.

these are quite old now, but i wouldnt be using much and i believe the pajero engines are very good....

There's too little information in the ad to say, IMO.

    Have a look here

    http://www.pocuk.com/

I had a 2.5 auto SWB for a while.. they can be quiet thirsty , in around 25mpg. If you are going the commerical route why not look at the 2.8 for that bit more power.
Overall nice machines, and do, what they are supposed to do well ;)

The lwb 2.5 is terribly underpowerd imo, it struggles to cruise at 50mph...... Get the 2.8 it will make no difference with the tax and feck all with the insurance....

is there much into converting to commercial. i know you have to take out the back seats and belts. what about the windows?

also how much is doe test. is it similar to the nct. another jeep also a lwb, but 2.8 engine has nct till 2011 and is for sale for €2400.

also the exceeds are jap imports. is there any probs/differences to these.

By the time you've gotten the conversion done it will more than likely have cost you more than its worth. It might be a better plan to find one already converted

stay away from the 2.5. If you must then check for cracked head by looking for traces of white gunge at oil filler cap and rad cap. cracked heads are their weak points. i'd look for an old LC to do the job.

I agree with EPM - You'll have to carpet out the rear window, remove the seats, seatbelts, and weld in a new floor.

For what the jeep is worth, you'd probably pick up a newer already coverted commercial for the same money after it all.

If anything jap import is worth more than original Irish one because most are in better condition. At this age condition is everything ... a minter 93 jeep is a better buy than a rough 00 jeep.

I use a 95 jap import Trooper 3.1 for towing a car transporter trailor. Pulls and stops the same loaded as unloaded, so stress-free towing. Also high spec jeep (irmscher model with heated recaro seats etc) so very comfortable. Downsides - steering less precise than a car, and drinks diesel (Limerick to Dublin and back = a tank of diesel when towing).

Stay away from 3.0 Trooper (99 onwards). Among other faults, these have a habit of running on their own oil (via turbo) and rev out until engine explodes. Very common to see these for sale needing an engine.

DOE is 86 euro vs NCT 50 euro, and lasts 12 months not 24 months.

For about 4 years I had a 1998 2.5TD SWB Passanger manual (02-05). In the 4 years it was mine the only problem was with the emissions at time of NCT which was easily rectified.

If you are looking for a jeep then you can't go wrong with the Pajero IMO.
