looks like Alpha being used again, it would also appear that it's secondary poisoning i.e they ate dead birds. I have a pair of buzzards knocking around me and to date they havent caused any trouble, I do notice there is a lot less mags about this year and the larsen trap is fairly quiet.

    Fantastic birds to watch soaring

    Ravens are protected aren't they?

There are about 20-30 Red kites around me and any day now the young chicks will be hatching.

I think a few have hatched already as Red kite activity is increasing (for last month they have not been as active, perhaps they were on the nest?)

One flew over my head last night about 40 feet above me.

There are crows nesting in the chimneys of unsold houses in the village and they chase the red kites away anytime they come around.

In my opinion I'd rather have 10 breeding pairs of buzzards around where I shoot than 1 breeding pair of magpies. So far I've never seen a buzzard doing the rounds of a hedgerow destroying every nest in it. And if it takes the odd rabbit or game bird to feed itself so be it, comes the season I do exactly the same.

Couldnt agree more, I honestly believe that you can work with them on the shoot same way as I believe you need a fox on the shoot. Its the Mags and greys that need the controlling and you cant beat Larsen traps for that.

My neighbour lost his dog to a rabbit with Alpha in it, good springer too, he was sickened he put down the Alpha

2 red kites died from it in Wicklow.

1 was shot by someone too
