Im currently looking at buying a stand alone media player to watch downloaded tv shows on my tv at home. However as i work a lot of nights with alot of downtime i would also like to watch these shows on my monitor in work with the monitor directly connected to the media player.

So far i have looked at the iomega drives but it looks like these can only be connected to the tv and not the monitor.

Any info or help greatly appreciated:)

    Paul

Get an Archos. Not only can they be plugged into a TV to watch stuff, you can watch stuff on the Archos's 5" screen. Not sure can they be hooked up to a monitor, though.

Important note regarding the Archos units, you need to buy an additional adapter to view content on a tv/monitor, this adapter will do it: http://www.archos.com/products/imt/archos_5/accessories.html?country=ie&lang=en&p=minidock

Hello...I have the archos 5 250gb and i have watched downloaded film on my 32 inch tv and it's great ..you have to get th dvr station to do it though..it (the dvr station) has 2 usbs..one to connect to computer and one to make archos the host so you can store stuff from flash key or external hard drive..audio left and right in and out..in fact everything has in and out... svhs..video(phono jack) pr/r y/g pr/b...spdif out..hdmi out...there isn't what you would call a monitor connector so you need one of the above or scart on your monitor...you con connect to computer via usb and watch straight on computer without having to copy files..copying or moving files is very fast with usb 2 but quite slow with usb 1...what is very important is that you can record straight from dvd player to archos thru dvr station but files are then copy protected and can only be watched on archos or on tv with hdmi lead.. unless you copy files to computer and feed thru virtual dub for instance...if you have any other questions i'll try to answer..i got mine from amazon.co.uk..update software straight away if you get it because mine crashed about 7 times in first 20 minutes but after update has been brilliant... that's about 4 weeks ago...
