got this off kildare CO. council web:

    Help, I've Lost Something
    1) Don't Panic

    2) Complete form RF134* declaring what documents were lost and have it witnessed at your garda station.

State whether you need a Replacement log book, vehicle licensing certificate or tax disc and enclose the appropriate fee - see below.

    The fees for replacements are:

    Tax Disc € 6.00
    Log Book €12.00
    Vehicle Licensing Certificate €12.00
Certificate of roadworthiness (heavy vehicle) € 7.00
Certificate of roadworthiness (light vehicle) €3.00

We can only accept applications for replacement documents from the registered owner of the vehicle at the time of application.

    *Available from the Tax Office

County council takes the application, therefore payment made to CO. council

    Cheers for the info lads,

So I have to take a feck'n afternoon off work to go and pay €12 for a peice of paper.

I know that I shouldn't have lost it, but in this day and age you would have thought if a Gard has stamped and he is happy, then why should the council need me to be present, GGGRRRRR

You can go to council / road tax office and put application & funds in a post box inside, just put your number on it in case needed. Can be done on your lunch !

Indeed, had to do this myself about 2 months ago. Just pop all the details in an envelope, and pop it into the local Co. Council office, or post it to their motor taxation division.

    Nightmare update:

So the Jeep in question has been laid idle on my drive for the past 8 months, and no Tax has been paid on it, as there was no way I was going to renew my tax for a vehicle sat on my drive.

Now the VRO will not issue a replacement log book until the Tax is paid!! WTF

    Any thoughts on this one?

    Pip

Declare the car off the road, pay 3 months tax, apply for logbook.

Either you're planning to use the jeep again and so therefore will (probably) need tax, or your selling the jeep and you'll be able to use the 3 months tax as a bargaining tool.

    My €0.02
